Bar Code |
A series of vertical bars of varying widths that contains encoded information.
Typically printed to a label. Bar codes are used in portable data collection to
perform certain application transactions, including inventory counting with a
portable device. |

The carrier delivery method for delivering goods (i.e., next day air, ground, etc.). |

Carrier's Tracking Number Format |
The symbology for a carrier's tracking number. In the IntelliTrack Package Track
application, it is used as a means to identify a delivery carrier and link the received package to this carrier. |

Category |
The types of items stocked in your warehouse facility; listing item categories allows you to sort or catalog items. A category could be related to your finished goods product line, or in-stock inventory type (i.e., printed material, raw materials, finished goods). |
Check In-Out Application |
IntelliTrack Data Management Software application that tracks circulating
and consumable inventory and manages stock issue and receipt. |
Check Out Detail |
Information pertaining to a check-out item such as rental cost, rental period,
and item condition. |
Circulating Inventory |
Inventory that circulates within an organization such as multi-media equipment
or tools. This type of inventory is checked out and checked back into the system;
circulating inventory is tracked in DMS Check In-Out software. |
Class Definition |
A class definition is used to differentiate an asset by type. Each asset class
may be assigned a unique
depreciation method. For example, the asset "computer" may have two classes: A
and B. Each class may be given a unique description and depreciation method. |

Compact Workstation
Utility |
A utility that is provided with IntelliTrack WMS and DMS applications, including
WMS, ISRP, Check In-Out, Fixed Assets, Inventory, and Stockroom. It reconditions the IntelliTrack database; thus, improving system performance. It is a good idea to run this utility at regular intervals, based on usage. |
Consumable Inventory |
Consumable inventory is received into your warehouse or issued from it. When you
issue consumable inventory, it is removed from your inventory data. Used in
conjunction with the DMS Check In-Out application. |

Cradle |
A device that establishes a direct link between your desktop computer and your handheld/CE
batch portable device. |
Cross Docking |
Cross docking enables an
operator to place a newly received order directly into a staging area, as
opposed to putting the item into a storage location. Cross docking is only
available when putting away an item. This feature is available in IntelliTrack WMS-RF during the put-away process. |

Cubic Space |
Space availability in a particular location. The cubic size of the item may be
created for the item's units of measurement (i.e., each, box, and case) and
stored in the item's record. If a location has insufficient space to accommodate the material, the system directs the user to select another
location. The user can also override and store the item in the location. This feature is available in IntelliTrack WMS and ISRP. |

Custom Data Label |
User-defined data in a bar code. |
|
Custom Report |
User-defined report loaded into an IntelliTrack
application. |
|
Customer |
A person or entity that buys goods or services from your operation. |
|
Cycle Count |
Regularly scheduled inventory count that cycles through your inventory. Based on
user-specified item cycles. |

Cycle Period |
The amount of time between a cycle count for an item. |

Data Synchronization |
The data transfer process between a handheld/CE batch portable device and a desktop computer. |

Database |
The collection of data in your IntelliTrack application. |
Depreciation |
An asset's loss of value over time. |
|
Desktop Computer |
The desktop computer represents your personal computer or laptop computer. |
|
Device Number |
A unique number used to identify your CE batch portable\handheld device for
IntelliTrack registration purposes. |
|
Directed Pick and
Put Away |
Directs the user to the desired location when picking inventory or putting away inventory. Used with the
WMS RF portable data collection terminal. |
DMS User Role |
IntelliTrack user account in SQL Server. If using a remote PC/server
configuration for IIS, the IIS user needs permission to use SQL Server database. |
Domain |
A computer grouping within a network that has a unique name; the computers share
a common directory database. All computers in the domain are administered as
part of a unit with common rules and procedures. |
Domain Name |
Network domain name that the batch portable application and database will use to
communicate with each other. The Domain Name is usually assigned by the network
administrator. It is only used in a domain environment. |
Domain Security Account |
Requires a username and password for logging into IIS Services. It is only used
in a domain environment. |

Expiration Date |
The product expiration date. In IntelliTrack applications, it is a feature that may be used to assign an expiration date to an inventoried item,
which is commonly used with perishable inventory items. |
Extended Cost |
The total cost of an item in inventory (by site or location), based on the
extended quantity of the item. |
Extended Quantity |
The total individual item quantity in a location or site. (When using multiple
units of measure, the extended quantity represents the item total in the "each"
count.) |

FIFO (First In First Out) Picking |
Used in conjunction with product expiration date. IntelliTrack WMS lists the locations of items being shipped in the order of expiration date, and prompts the user to pick items in expiration date order.
This is a feature of WMS RF.
For example, to put away a box of perishable items into location 1A11 with an
expiration date or received date of March 16 and another box of the same perishable items into location 1B11 on
April 20, location 1A11 is listed first when selecting a location to pick from when picking an order with this item. |
Fixed Assets |
Property that your organization owns such as office equipment, computers, or
printers. |
Fixed Assets Application |
IntelliTrack Data Management Software that tracks an organization's
assets. |

Forward Pick Location |
Generally, a "forward" location in the warehouse to which items can be moved from bulk storage
for order picking. Designated "forward pick locations" are important if you are implementing replenishment or location sequencing.
This is a feature of WMS RF. |

Handheld Device |
A handheld electronic organizer that holds information from your personal computer or laptop. Many IntelliTrack products interface with a handheld device through a separate Batch application. |
|
Handheld Device Number |
A unique number used to identify your handheld device; used for product registration purposes. |
|
Handheld Identifier |
In Package Track, you must assign a unique handheld ID number so that package
records are not duplicated when they are transferred back to the workstation
application. |
History |
IntelliTrack applications record ongoing transaction history. Transaction
history is displayed in many history reports. The History feature must be
enabled in the Options form. |
|
Hold (or Quarantine) Designation for a Location |
When a location is given a "hold"
designation, it cannot be used to store or move items. This is a feature used in
WMS applications; note that
quarantine designations are not recognized by the WMS RF server. |
|
Host Picking |
Part of the WMS Import-Export Utility. Communicates picking order activity back to a host system. |
|
Host Receiving |
Part of the WMS Import-Export Utility. Communicates receiving order activity back to a host system. |
IIS Account |
An administrative tool that your
CE batch handheld device or Portable Device Terminal
uses to communicate with the database. (IntelliTrack CE batch applications
use Internet Information Services (IIS) to communicate with each other.) |
IIS Anonymous User |
If IIS is installed, a built-in account for anonymous access to IIS.
(Used with IntelliTrack CE Batch communication.) |
IIS Server |
The PC on which IIS resides. It is either your local PC or a remote PC/server,
depending on your configuration option. (Used with IntelliTrack CE Batch
communication.) |
IIS Sub folder |
The IIS folder found in the IntelliTrack program installation directory. The
directory is typically located at: Program
Files\Common Files\IntelliTrack\IIS. The IIS folder contains the resource dll for the
application's use of IIS (for example, sqlcesa35.dll). (Used with IntelliTrack CE Batch
communication.) |
IIS Virtual Directory |
If using a remote PC/server option with IIS, the virtual directory is the
network location where IIS resides. (Used with IntelliTrack CE Batch
communication.) |

Import-Export Utility |
A utility that is provided with WMS, which allows for data import into its database tables and data export from them. The import and export data is stored in text files (files with a .txt extension). |
|
Initial Item Quantity |
The initial amount of an inventoried item, when it is entered into inventory. |
|
IntelliTrack Application Architecture |
IntelliTrack applications are built on the three-tier architecture recommended by Microsoft for client/server environments. Three separate areas integrate to form your IntelliTrack
software product: the workstation application, the server, and the database; thus forming a scalable client/server that can handle a large number of users against a large database. IntelliTrack
applications minimize network traffic by shifting transactions to the back end through a middle tier that provides accessibility to upgrades. |
Internet Information Services (IIS) |
A tool that
a Windows Pocket PC, Windows CE, or Windows Mobile handheld device uses to communicate with the
IntelliTrack SQL CE or SQL compact database. IIS is
included with Windows 2000 and above. IIS must be properly setup and configured
before the SQL Server and the SQL CE databases will communicate. (Used with
IntelliTrack CE Batch communication.) |

Inventoried Quantity |
The item amount from a physical inventory count. Useful for comparing on hand quantity with the physical count results when
auditing inventory. The inventoried quantity must be updated to the on hand
quantity to be used by the system. This is a WMS application feature. |
Inventory Application |
IntelliTrack DMS application that tracks an organization's physical inventory. |
Inventory, Ship, Receive, Pick (ISRP) Application |
IntelliTrack WMS application; it tracks inventory and order flow for your
organization. Typically used by small warehouses. |
Issue |
Stock issues are transactions in IntelliTrack DMS
Check In-Out and Stockroom applications. They are used to process outgoing inventory transactions. |

Kit |
A "kit" represents a preset group of items, of varying quantities.
When a kit is picked from inventory, the kit item number is selected as part of a pick order. |
|
License Number (or code) |
A number that enables the IntelliTrack product to function in its full version. |
|
Location |
A storage area in IntelliTrack applications. In many IntelliTrack applications,
the location resides within a Site. |
|
Location Sequencing |
A WMS RF feature; allows for efficient order picking and put away. Locations are
associated with a sequence number, which directs the user, with an RF portable,
to a predefined location when picking and/or putting away order items. (WMS
sorts line items into the sequence defined and presents the line item in
sequential order.) |
Log (History) |
When history logging is enabled, the application records the total net balance
quantity for the item in the History record. |
|
Lookups |
Lists that store information. A few examples of lookup lists include carriers,
item categories, departments, units of measure, sites. When lookup entries are
added to a lookup list, they are available for drop-down list selection in
IntelliTrack application forms. |

Lot |
An inventory grouping that is identified by a number, alphanumeric character, etc. |

Mailroom |
In the IntelliTrack Package Track application, a mailroom is where incoming and outgoing mail is handled for your organization. |
Microsoft ActiveSync or Mobile Device Center
Software |
An application used by the handheld device to connect to a PC. It allows data
and file transfer between the handheld device and a PC. |
Microsoft SQL Server |
A server application that runs the IntelliTrack database. |
Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition |
A server application used on the handheld device to run the IntelliTrack CE
database. |
|
Multiple Units of Measure |
Uses a base unit of measure (i.e., each) and then higher increments of the base
unit such as carton, bundle, or case for the items in stock. |
|
New Pick Quantity |
The amount of the item currently being picked against a picking order. (Used in
IntelliTrack WMS applications.) |
|
New Received Quantity |
The amount of the item currently being received against a receiving order. (Used
in IntelliTrack WMS applications.) |
Normal Location |
The normal location is assigned to a check out item; it is the default location
for the item when it is checked into the system. |
|
On Hand Quantity |
The amount of the item available in stock. (Used in WMS applications.) |
|
Order Number |
The numeric identifier for an order. |
|
Order Status (for receiving and picking orders) |
The system status of the order (open or closed). An open order has not been fully processed by the system. A closed order has been fully processed by the system.
The order status setting may be toggled between open and closed (Used in IntelliTrack WMS applications.) |

Package ID |
A unique number assigned to the package by Package Track. It is used to identify the package within the
Package Track application. |
Package Track Application |
IntelliTrack DMS application; used for tracking package receipt and delivery at
an organization. |

Package Type |
Used to describe a package in the Package Track application. Examples of package
types include: letter, small box, large box, and parcel, first class, priority,
next day air, etc. |
|
Pallet |
A temporary storage area that is usually portable; used for moving or storing inventory.
Used with the IntelliTrack WMS applications. |
|
Paperless Picking and Receiving |
Receive new orders into inventory or pick existing orders electronically,
without the use of a printed document. This is a feature in WMS applications. |

PC |
Personal Computer |
Permissions |
Security rights to write and use the IIS account with your IntelliTrack
application. Used with IntelliTrack CE Batch communication. |
|
Physical Inventory |
An inventory count of all items by location; usually performed with a portable data collection terminal.
Used with IntelliTrack WMS and DMS inventory applications. |
|
Pick Sequence |
The location travel sequence when picking items. Used with IntelliTrack RF
applications. |
|
Picker |
The WMS system user who is picking the order. When picking batched orders, a picker may be assigned to the Wave. |
|
Picking Order |
Outbound orders. Inventory is picked to fulfill the order. Found in IntelliTrack
WMS applications. |
|
Portable Data Collection Terminal (PDT) |
A portable device used to collect inventory data and perform inventory functions. Interfaces with the WMS
and DMS workstation applications through a separate Batch Portable or RF Server application. |
|
Primary Location (for picking and put away) |
A location established as the prime location for an item. Useful in location sequencing for picking, put away, and replenishment.
(Used in WMS and DMS applications.) |

Prior Pick Quantity |
Amount of the item quantity previously picked against the picking order. (Used
in WMS applications.) |
|
Prior Received Quantity |
Amount of the item quantity previously received against the receiving order.
(Used in WMS applications.) |
|
Product Serial Number |
A unique number that is assigned to your IntelliTrack product purchase. It is found on the product package (for software applications) or the product mailing envelope (for additional product licenses or support agreements). |

Put Away Sequence |
Directs your travel sequence when putting away
received items. |
Quarantine Designation for a Location |
A designation
that may be assigned to a location in IntelliTrack WMS or ISRP. A quarantine
location cannot be used to store or move items. Also referred to as a hold
designation for a location. |

Query |
The "query" feature in IntelliTrack applications enables you to search
the database for specific data (such as items in a location) and then view the
retrieved data at the Query form. |
Receipt |
The IntelliTrack Check In-Out and Stockroom applications process incoming inventory
to a facility via the receipt transaction. |
Received Quantity |
The incoming amount of an item being received at the warehouse. |
Receiving Area |
Area in the warehouse where goods are received. |

Receiving Orders |
Inbound orders. When you receive an order, inventory is added to the system. |
|
Recipient |
In the IntelliTrack Package Track application, a recipient represents the final package destination. A recipient may be a single person, or a department within your organization. |
Remote Data Access |
A communication method for workstation and handheld application databases; it is
used for IntelliTrack CE batch communication. RDA includes
several components, which must be configured before you install the CE Batch
application on the handheld device. RDA includes the IntelliTrack workstation
application, Internet Information Services (IIS), Microsoft ActiveSync, Windows
Active Directory Authentication, Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft SQL Server
Compact Edition. |

Replenishment |
Used with the portable data collection terminal for replenishing inventory. Directs you to move material from a bulk location to a forward pick location. |
Replenishment Quantity |
The item amount necessary to move the item from bulk storage to the item's
primary or forward picking location. |
|
Reports |
The reports available in IntelliTrack applications provide you with
comprehensive information in a usable format that is available for distribution
and analysis. |
Retire Item |
Used in the IntelliTrack DMS Check In-Out application; it can be applied to
check out items. When a check out item is retired, the item is removed from
active status, but retained by the database until it can be totally deleted from
the circulating inventory. |
RF Data Collection |
A option that is available with IntelliTrack applications. When you use RF
portables to collect inventory or asset data, it is updated in your IntelliTrack
workstation in real-time. |

RF Server |
The RF server application interfaces between the WMS database and a RF
portable. It is available in a standard and a professional version. |
|
RF Terminal |
A RF enabled wireless portable data terminal that uses the WMS RF or DMS RF server application. |
RFID Add-On for Fixed Assets |
An Add-On for the IntelliTrack DMS Fixed Assets application; use it to enhance
your data collection ability with the Fixed Assets portable application. The
RFID Add-On reads RFID encoded tags; thus, when using a RFID scanner, a room's identified fixed
assets inventory is captured in one scan. |

Scanner |
An electronic device that is used to read and transmit the information found in
a bar code. A scanner device can integrate with or be added onto your handheld
device. |

Serial Number feature |
A feature in IntelliTrack applications. When activated, you may enter one serial number per item.
This feature enables the tracking of inventory using serial numbers. |
|
Serial Number (of your IntelliTrack product) |
A unique number that identifies your purchased IntelliTrack product. |
Shipped Date |
The date a picking order transaction occurred. |
Shipped Quantity |
The outgoing amount of an item being shipped from the warehouse. |
|
Ship To ID |
The WMS system identifier for the Customer shipping information. |
|
Shipping |
The transporting of goods. It is considered the final step in the picking
process. (see picking order) |

Site |
A warehouse or storage facility. |
|
Site Locations |
In WMS applications and the following DMS applications: Check In-Out, Fixed
Assets, Stockroom and Inventory, locations reside within a "Site" and are added to a site at the Locations form. When you create locations for a site, the warehouse space is divided into specific areas. |

SQL Server |
An application that runs the WMS or DMS database. |
SQL Server Authentication |
A method for logging into SQL Server that uses your SQL Server username and
password. |
SQL Server Express |
A "light" version of Microsoft
SQL Server. It is installed with the workstation application if
a full version of SQL Server is not installed on the PC. It is the engine that runs the WMS
or DMS database. |
Staging Area |
Area in the warehouse from which goods are shipped. |
Staged Quantity |
The staged quantity is the amount of an item set for picking in a staged order.
This is a feature used in WMS RF. |

Standard Report |
A report included in your IntelliTrack application. |
Stockroom Application |
An IntelliTrack DMS application that tracks stockroom issue, receipt, and
inventory transactions. |
|
Symbology |
The language used to record information in bar code form. |
Sync URL dll |
The Sync URL dll allows the batch portable device to communicate
with the workstation application database. |
Sync URL Setting |
The network path to the Sync URL dll location. |
|
Synchronize |
A term for data transfer between your desktop computer and the handheld device. |
Threshold Quantity |
The on-hand amount of the item that signals restocking of the item. (This
quantity is linked to the item replenishment quantity. The threshold quantity
for the item signifies the amount necessary to trigger replenishment. Inventory
dipping below this number triggers replenishment.) |
Tote |
A portable bin location used for filling orders. |
|
Tracking Number |
The carrier's tracking number for the received package. This number can be scanned into
the Package Track application. It also may be imported into the Shipping table in the WMS workstation application. |
|
Tracking Number Format Symbology |
The use of symbols to record a carrier's tracking number format into the
IntelliTrack Package Track system. This symbol format allows the user to scan this number into the system with a scanner, and have it identified with a specific carrier. |
|
Unit of Measure (UOM) |
Item measurement defined by a base unit and higher increments of the base unit.
For example: "Each" =1 unit, "Case" = 10 units (based
on the each unit), "Carton" = 100 units (based on the Each unit). |
|
User (also User ID) |
A person who uses the IntelliTrack application. By creating users, you are able to set login and password security, as well as track application usage. |
User Role (DMS or WMS) |
IntelliTrack user account in SQL Server. If using a remote PC/server
configuration for IIS, the IIS user needs permission to use SQL Server database. |

Warehouse |
A building where goods and merchandise are stored. |
Warehouse Management Software (WMS) |
IntelliTrack Warehouse Management Software that is available in RF Standard and
RF Professional versions. |

Wave |
Picking orders that are grouped together. Also referred to as "batched orders." Wave selection criteria such as date range, customer, and carrier allow you to assemble picking orders into distinct groups. |
|
Wave Picking |
The wave picking process is based upon efficiently grouping orders into batches for picking and then assigning pickers for each wave group. |
Windows Active Directory Authentication |
Network permissions used by a Windows network in a domain setting. Active
Directory Permissions must be allowed for PCs in the network domain that receive
data from the CE Batch application. (Not used in a workgroup setting. A
workgroup setting uses Local permissions.) |
Windows Mobile Device Center |
Software used with Windows Vista by the Microsoft Sync Center for device and PC
communication. |
Windows NT Authentication |
A method for logging into SQL Server. With NT Authentication, use your Windows
password login for logging into SQL Server. |
WMS User Role |
IntelliTrack user account in SQL Server. If using a remote PC/server
configuration for IIS, the IIS user needs permission to use SQL Server database. |

Work Machine |
Refers to the desktop computer. Also referred to as the PC (personal computer). |
Workgroup |
A computer grouping intended to help users find printers and shared folders
within a group. In Windows, workgroups do not offer centralized user accounts or
authentication. |

Workstation Application |
The IntelliTrack application that is installed and used on the desktop computer. You are able to
manage your system information and transactions from the workstation
application. |
|
Zone |
A picking zone is a group of locations placed together for order picking. When
you form a picking zone, you are able to pick inventory from only the locations
found in the zone. |
|
Zone Picking |
Zone picking is implemented in the WMS RF Server. If you select a picking zone
at the RF Server, you are only able to fulfill the picking order with inventory
found in locations that are part of the designated picking zone. |
