Upgrading from Previous Versions

Note: If your previous version of IntelliTrack contains modifications or customizations, please contact your reseller before upgrading.

From 5.0 or 5.1

The existing database will upgraded during the product installation. If, during installation, you choose not to upgrade and want to install a new database, re-start the installation and pick a different name for the database.

From 3.2c through 4.3

Existing databases from the Microsoft Access versions of IntelliTrack Check In Out, Stockroom, Fixed Assets, and Inventory 3.2c or higher can be imported directly through the workstation application.

From Earlier Versions

DMS 5.0 does not include built-in support for upgrading from versions earlier than 3.2c. Assistance with upgrades may be obtained through our Software Services department. Software Services can be reached via email at services@intellitrack.net or by phone at (888) 583-3008.

From SQL versions of DMS 4.3

Existing DMS SQL databases can be upgraded by contacting technical support.

Known Issues

Image locations

DMS Workstation allows users to view images of items through certain forms on the workstation application. The sample data (installed with the product) assumes that pictures will be stored in the default directory (C:\ITASSET5\Pictures). To make the best use of the system, pictures in a live system should be stored on a network share that is accessible to all DMS users and mapped to the same drive letter. This will allow all users to see the same set of pictures without having a local copy on each individual workstation.

Printer Drivers

DMS Workstation now uses Seagull Scientifics’ Bartender printing engine to accomplish the label printing features. Label printing will only work if Seagull Scientific printer drivers are used instead of the printer manufacturer’s drivers. Seagull’s printer drivers are distributed at no charge by Seagull Scientific at http://www.seagullscientific.com.

CE Batch applications

If you are using the CE Batch applications (NOT the DOS applications), Internet Information Services (IIS) is required for synchronizing data between the portable and the database. Install IIS from the Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs applet through the “Add/Remove Windows Components” feature. Installing this feature may require your original installation disks or access to the installation files for the last service pack installed. If the installation is performed before IIS is installed, you can run “Create IIS Settings” from Start->Programs->Intellitrack->(DMS product name) to automatically configure permissions.

Installing IntelliTrack Batch Applications on PDTs with the Windows Mobile 2005 Operating System

Windows Mobile 2005 contains a newer version of the .NET Compact Framework than the version that is included with the IntelliTrack DMS portable applications. During program installation on the portable, an error message may appear warning the user that the.NET Compact Framework is already installed and is newer than the version the user is attempting to install. To avoid the error message, the user must opt not to install the .NET Compact Framework by following the steps below.

  1. Select the program that matches closest to your portable. For Windows Mobile 2005 you must choose the program that is built for Pocket PC 2003. For example, if you have a Symbol 8800 with Windows Mobile 2005, your installation file will be called something like CIO_5_1_02_SymbolPPT8800PPC2003.exe.
  2. During the installation a “Choose Components” screen will appear that has “Full” selected by default. Select “Custom” instead of “Full.”
  3. A list of components appears. Un-check the option called “.NET Compact Framework.”
  4. Continue normally with installation.
