Success Stories— Captains of Comedy
Business ChallengeSince its debut four years ago, Captains of Comedy has printed about 1100 tickets per show. Due to increasing printing costs, the non–profit needed a cost–effective method for providing tickets as well as an efficient way to track and validate them. The SolutionIntelliTrack built a custom barcode scanning ticket validation application to meet the show’s needs. To fulfill Captains of
Comedy’s need
for electronic ticketing, IntelliTrack’s ticket application generates a unique barcode label in addition to providing a
history for each ticket sold.
This is invaluable at show time: as tickets are scanned, the barcodes are validated (figure 1 and figure 2) and checked for
duplicate scans (figure 3).

“Captains of Comedy” is a registered non–profit entertainment show created by parents of the students in the Navy
Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) at Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk, Connecticut. The stand–up comedy
show features outstanding talents and top comic performers who in addition to stand–up have written and performed for shows
on MTV, Comedy Central, and NBC. Additionally, past shows have featured performers who are regulars on “The Daily Show,” and
have also performed at political conventions.
