Upgrading from Previous Versions of WMS

WMS supports a wide range of portable data collection terminals. For the most current information, please consult our hardware support matrix located at http://www.intellitrack.net/hardwarematrix1.asp.
Existing databases from WMS 5.2 through 6.01 can be upgraded when they are detected by the installer. During the installation, enter database connection settings for your existing database. The existing database will be backed up before the upgrade process begins. It is recommended that you uninstall the applications before upgrading to WMS 6.2. See the section in this document titled Uninstalling Older Versions under Known Issues for more information on upgrades.
WMS 6.2 does not include built-in support for upgrading from versions earlier than 5.2. Assistance with upgrades may be obtained through our Software Services department. Software Services can be reached via email at services@intellitrack.net or by phone at (888) 583-3008.
WMS Workstation now uses Seagull Scientifics’ Bartender printing engine to accomplish the label printing features. Label printing will only work if Seagull Scientific printer drivers are used instead of the printer manufacturer’s drivers. Seagull’s printer drivers are distributed at no charge by Seagull Scientific at http://www.seagullscientific.com.
WMS 6.2 uses some files that were used in previous versions of WMS. Uninstalling the old version after WMS 6.2 is installed on a computer may remove files that are required by WMS 6.2. To correct the problem, re-install WMS 6.2 after uninstalling the old version.
In some instances, reboots are required during the installation. To continue the installation you must log onto the PC using the same username that began the installation.
If you are using the CE Batch applications (NOT the DOS applications), Internet Information Services (IIS) is required for synchronizing data between the portable and the database. Install IIS from the Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs applet through the “Add/Remove Windows Components” feature. If the installation is performed before IIS is installed, you can run “Create IIS Settings” from Start->Programs->Intellitrack->WMS to automatically configure permissions.
